OPENBRIDGE 5.0: ADVANCING THE MARITIME INDUSTRY WITH ENHANCED FEATURESAND INNOVATIVE IMPROVEMENTS

MAY 30, 2023 – We are thrilled to announce the launch of OpenBridge5.0, the world's only open-source design system supporting next generation maritime workplaces. This latest version, already accessed by over 900 maritime companies worldwide, brings a suite of comprehensive enhancements and groundbreaking features, further bolstering its role as spearheading next generation maritime workplaces through open innovation.

The OpenBridge structure you know has been maintained in the current release. However, there are a huge number of improvements and additions to components across the entire system. A new label system has been added to the maritime components. The automation section is entirely revamped with higher versatility and support for new system types such as HVAC. OpenBridge5.0 also offers significant advancements, with features such as a reimagined multiscreen support and Augmented Reality (AR) interfaces. New design cases cover DP, ECDIS, RADAR, screen control, AIS, POI system and conning.  Additionally, the palette has been tuned and updated to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards, enhancing contrast and accessibility. We've also introduced hundreds of new icons. All in all, the selection of enhancements and new features are contributing to a richer, more efficient user experience.

A remarkable milestone for this release is OpenBridge 5.0's readiness for use in land-based remote operation centres through adaptation of augmented reality overlays for video and mixed reality hardware, opening the door for greater operational versatility and safety.

Through promoting consistent design among manufacturers, OpenBridge 5.0is set to make workplaces safer and more efficient while simultaneously reducing the cost of maritime user interfaces development.
